It's all going smoother than I thought, so far. We just took the engine and gearbox out. Saturday I'll start stripping it to the base and clean it up.

Well, had to make a bit of a disappointing decision today. I'm returning the carbs to their previous owner. Too much unusual things about them, and not maintained well. I got them from an acquintance so didn't look into them that much. Luckily I get my money back, but that also means I don't have Webers anymore. So I am on the lookout for a new (used) pair. Tips are welcome.

Also good news. I made some room for a working bench and a storage rack for all the parts that were laying all around. And I took the engine's head of today, I think there's one or two more hours of work to take of all the parts before I can start cleaning up. We checked the pistons and the piston chambers. I was quite satisfied finding out there are no (not sure if that's proper English) ridges on the edge of the chambers.

This afternoon my uncle showed up by surprise. He saw a picture I posted on Facebook of my new "revision corner" and brought me something unexpected. He had an unused engine stand sitting in his garage for years and decided I could put it to use. All I need to do is fit the mounting plate, which I will be doing next week.

Well, it has been two weeks since I worked on stripping the engine. Today I managed to finish that job. Now all there is left is a bare iron block. Besides renewing bearings, bearing shells, seals and gasket I also think the timing chain has to be replaced, as wel as the tensioner. And the clutch seems a bit worn off. But first I'm going to clean all the parts... :D

Be sure to remove the jackshaft and check the bearing condition.

I did not take the time to post updates, but we've put the engine back together. It had a complete revision, including a new clutch plate and pressure group. We worked the flywheel and connecting rods to make them lighter. The only thing missing are carbs. I had a good offer from a member but waited way too long with a proper response. So now I'm on the lookout for a pair again.

that looks like a great job, pity about the carbs, but the work you have completed is excellent.

There they are. Dell'orto 45 DHLA carbs. they need some cleaning up, but that's all. At this pace, the car should be up and running in about two weeks!

Did a first test run yesterday. The engine is really spicy! One problem though. We took off the mid part of the exhaust (with the two silencers) and put it on the side of the garage. It was gone the day after, probably taken by someone who collects scrap without asking. We improvised something but the engine seems to be smuthered, if you know what I mean. Since I'm out of budget I guess that put's the whole project on hold

Since I wasn't sure where to go, I ordered a new stainless steel sports exhaust via a Dutch party, Nico Baas Triumph Centre. Should be there somewhere next week. Won't be doing anything untill then.

Nico Baas => probably a Rimmer Bros exhaust then?
I have that one on my sprint, as does Adrie (another Dutchie).

I assumed it is a Rimmer Bros exhaust, yes! Are you guys satisfied with it?
