scrapyard dolly
Not realy a full on restro job more of a good clean and a brake rebuild. About 18 months ago my son tried to buy a 1300 dolly that had been sat in a local scrapyard for a while. It was in good nic and was running fine when driven in there. He was told it was sold and they just had to get it running again. Fast forward 12 months, it was still there. Again the same story, sold they just had to get it running. He said he would have as it was. Another month or so and the guy eventualy said he would check with the chap who was buying it to see if he still wanted it. Guess what he had long given up hope of ever getting it. A bit of arguing about price and the use of their tow truck and it was his. Once home a set of points, battery and fuel, got it running. body wise it was very good under the dirt and grime, just a few little marks and stone chips, all original never been welded as far as we can see. Interior good just the drivers footwell carpet missing. Just siezed brakes, blowing exhaust and an oil leak. Don't intend make it perfect just a good solid runabout. I'll get some pics added when i work out how to do it.

Re: scrapyard dolly

Re: scrapyard dolly
Spent some time on it today. Resealed front brakes, working fine now. Had loads of problems with the rear brakes. I striped and copper greased the adjusters and the rear cylinders everything free and looked ok, but kept locking on, cylinders not releasing. Cracked off bleed nipple, wheels free, cracked off pipe to master cylinder, still locked on. Did the same on the rear flexy hose and found the problem, it looked ok but had collapsed. Clamped it off so car will at least now roll.
Re: scrapyard dolly
Fitted the new flexy hose this morrning, now got good brakes all round. Just the exhaust to sort out and it'll be ready for MOT.
Re: scrapyard dolly

Every time i get underneath I keep thinking something is wrong with the rear anti roll bar, it looks far too close to the ground. Did some searching and found out why, dam thing is on the wrong way round. Another little job to do before its mot.
At least it looks better now its had a good wash and "T" cut. Shame "T"cut wont' make it go any better.
Re: scrapyard dolly
Thought I was on the home straight with this thing just had to fit the exhaust, and then it was finished. No such luck the exhaust won't fit. Will have to modify it a bit, MORE WORK.

Re: scrapyard dolly
Found out today, I've been trying to fit a toledo centre box. No wonder i had problems. I think i'll start at the back and work forwards, looks easer to alter it in front of the center box.

Congrats on the MoT pass. Let's see some photos. They're an absolute must for any "resto" thread.
