Ok, good, I got them the right way round. Creating torque low down is what I want, as I doubt I'll ever Rev the nuts off it

A race engine typically produces all its power in a high narrow power band,with the bhp and torque curves nearly matching. this in turn needs a close ratio gearbox to keep the engine "on the boil" and a short diff which restricts V-max and ruins fuel consumption. The 1500 unit is eminenently UN suited to this sort of treatment, what you need to be looking at is more of a Rally tuned spec with lots of low down torque and mid range power. A much less aggressive cam is needed, the stock gear ratios are useable and a taller diff ratio will be ok, all aimed at NOT revving the nuts off it! this will help longevity, driveabilty and reliability. The only downside is the loss of bragging rights for giant horsepower - which aren't much good anyway if the engine is always in bits! It will probably only need a single 40 or 45 DCOE carb too.

A rally tune sounds doable, I'll maybe step down a stage on the cam and go for a fast road 83 rather than a 89. Also, going to stick with the twin SUs for now although j may be forced to go twin Webber as I broke my TC manifold which sucks

I recently needed to replace the "wobbly tail pipe" on my 1500HL which I must confess I never liked and felt it spoilt the looks of the back of the Dolomite. I was offered a GT6 tail pipe with twin exit pipes and it looked as if it would fit without too much trouble so a visit to the welding maestro at the local garage soon sorted things. The tail section curves up following the underside of the boot and is attached to hangers drilled into the well of the spare wheel, on first impressions it appears low but closer inspection shows it to be no lower than the diff housing.

No problem. I've resized them for you. The trick is to resize them before uploading them. To resize your photos just right click and select "Edit" which opens Paint where you can resize the photo. Don't forget to save the resized photo! I've found the sweet spot to be a horizontal size of 1024 pixels which suits most monitors. Ideally, it is best to upload your photos to a hosting site such as Photobucket or Flickr.

Always liked the GT6 twin pipe box, had a S/S one on my GT6 with no centre box, sounded GORGEOUS but did tend to set car alarms off when passing parked cars!

8) hee hee, I had an early Ducati 900ss that used to do that!!
On a serious note, the gt6 tailpipe is loud enough to want you to keep the centre box, with that in place it sounds good (it does sound good initially without it but "attracts" attention! - I did run it without initially :lol: )

Could add a bypass valve that can go around the centre box for when I want to open the gaps and have some fun
