Re: HELP - matching rocker assemblys to Sprint cylinder head
Oh dear, no.
Mount the rocker assemblies without the cam in place. If you can feel a step where the bearing caps meet the head, then it is the wrong match...if you can't, it may still be the wrong match, but you may get away with it. You could see if a 1 thou feeler gauge picks up a step instead of using your finger...

Good idea , I'll give that a go
Also maybe measure the bearing caps across widest point ( on ends ) and see if this marries up with any of the head measurements

You could also look for similar scoring marks in both halves, I.e. a deep score in the head may match a deep score in the corresponding rocker assembly.

Ok,he is a reasonable accurate way to ascertain a match.IF,you have access to a pillar drill, that is big enough for you to satnd the head upright(on its end),then mount a clock(dial test indicator)a lever operated one,not a plunger, in the chuck.Move the head relative to the center of the chuck untill it the center of the chuck is roughly in the middle of the journal.Touch on the edge of the journal with the clock, and spin the chuck.Check the journal,at 0,90,180 and 270 degress, moving the head until you get the same reading at 0,180,and 90 and 270.Now spin the chuck and read the clock. If its within .05 mm(.002"),its probably a match.
Of course the correct way to check it would be on a horizontal borer,or CMM,but I doubt anyone would have these handy!

You can always have them shipped to nl to have them torqued on an engine and have all flush and round again.
