Anyone know what tap size I need for the coolant temp sensor
Was changing my old one and the new one decided to cross thread in the manifold (1850HL 1977)
Unless anyones got an inlet manifold?

If it's the same as the 1500 temperature sender then it's 5/8"unf.

It is into an ally casting, so it is most likely to be UNC rather than UNF

On my Sprint it's 5/8 18 UNF.
Edit: But you're right, coarse thread for soft metals so not sure why this is not the case, unless the fine thread aids watertightness?

I've got my old temperature sensor from my 1850 and the thread O.D. measures 0.6140 in. The thread pitch measures as 0.0504 in. From my trusty Zeus book I reckon it is ( as has been said) 5/8 -18UNF ( 0.625 O.D. and 0.0555 in pitch ).
Same across the range then.

Just brought a manifold off ebay for strongberg carbs in a bit of a panic because it was cheep, now is this a facepalm moment? Are the manifolds the same or different for SU. Going off Rimmer Bros website there the same

The S.U. 1850 inlet manifold is RKC129. The Stromberg one is 313302. The difference is in the carb; fixings. Very few new parts available right now so it would have to be second hand.

Retaped the manifold, got both UNC and UNF taps just incase and it always good to have more tool in the box. It was a UNC tap after all, worked a treat, thanks guys

UNC? Interesting as to why your car is different, maybe a previous owner redid the thread?
