Anybody seen a CHxxxHE numbered Sprint block?
The 16v Slant 4 engine is more fun than the 3.5 V8, because you mostly drive it on the upslope of the torque curve.

Factory 1977 TR7 Sprint FHC VVC 697S (Now all of, but still needs putting together)
B&Y 73 Dolomite Sprint UVB 274M (kids!)
1970 Maroon 13/60 Herald Convertable (wife's fun car).

Half guess, half gut feeling, is that not a TR7 block code?

No. TR7 blocks are numbered CG, not CH. And this is a number for a 16-valve Sprint engine.

Yes, they are TR7 Sprint engine numbers. The engine numbers I know of go from CH2 to CH117. But I've only about 35 numbers in that range, mostly for the 30 SJW press garage cars, all from cars built in 1977. You might well as why they needed 30 TR7 Sprints at the press garage! Though there is a story of a batch of engines went to Speke and were never seen again. Whether they're inside that range or not, I don't know.
