If you move the rear fog light from the near side to the off side you will meet the MoT requirements as I believe the requirement is to have at least one on the off side for cars of the that age. The wiring should be there as when new the car will have been fitted with two, one each side. The fog lights are fed via a short bit of loom from the main rear loom. Just a singe cable feed connector and an earth.
Mandatory fog light needs to be from center of vehicle or to the offside. Just the one anywhere from centre line is acceptable. Check my MOT tester bs!! Lol
A little more done on the car today - even went on it’s Maiden Voyage. First drive in 18 years, seemed to go well after a little carb tuning. Wheel alignment needs a tweak but other than that we are good to go!
One of my customers wanted an extra fog lamp and i did spray one reverse lamp red with translucent red paint. Fitting a red bulb behind a clear glass will have a pinkish glare, not the bright red of a foglamp.

You’ve got to have something to work towards haven’t you! I’ve been through the car front to back and back to front so should be all ok. + I’m a ex mot tester so I don’t think I’ve missed anything!
MOT all done & passed. Only 2 advisories on the front upper balljoint gaitors (I was already aware i needed to do these)
However i did come across a few issues on the 25 minute journey to work. First 5 mins went smoothly and the car felt great, Then when up to temp and put my foot down the car bogged down and died. Pulled over, Fired straight back up and runs perfectly at idle. I did however notice when it died on me the fuel filter was empty and i could see bubbles (Like there was a lack of supply or something)
So im going to change the fuel pump this afternoon & change the rubber fuel pipe hoses under the car and see how we get on.

Something worth checking in my experience.... is the filter sealing correctly? I had one on the spitfire where the seals shrank when the car was stood.... the pump ended up pulling more air than fuel!
Good news on the pass..... I got a fail!
I pulled the pipe off that comes out if the tank at the back & nothing came out!!! The car had a full tank of fuel so ive drained that out & unblocked the tube at the bottom of the tank (Inside of tank looks extremely good and not rusty at all)
Put a new hose on and went for a drive - All good!!

Indeed very pleased. Nice to have it on the road after 18 years of being sat in a garage!
You will remember that drive for a long time
