After seeing Phils photo of his Dolomite with Stag wheels i thought id have a go
first point was buy a pair of Stag front hubs
You can see the difference in size between the Dolomite hub and the stag
you also need to change the stub axle,the yoke on the Dolomite has the steering arm built in wear to stag has a seperate arm,so i needed to make up a spacer
I already had the Trackerjack brakes,but upgraded them to take 260mm disc and bigger calipers

Then came the hard bit getting the rear hubs done,first i made a rear hub puller But that didnt work on my car so took the half shafts out and put them in a press,i went to a 3 engineering shops to modify my Stag rear hubs to fit on the Dolomite,they all said they could machine the tapper but the key way was the hard part to do,in the end i found some who modified my Dolomite hubs,with a bigger flange,it was at this point i almost gave up
The next stage was upgrading the rear brakes
My new back plate was just a little bit thicker than the original so it made it easier with a shims
Yes there were lots of bits painted blue Now i couldnt leave those wheels looking shabby could i
Where did the calliper brackets come from

I didn't go quite as big as Dave (260mm discs) Mine are 256mm from a Passat of similar vintage to the Golf one Jon uses on the standard TJ kit. Match these up with 1.7 Puma calipers and carriers and the whole lot fits on the stock TJ caliper brackets. The Puma caliper is the same piston size as the Sierra/Escort/Ka one of the original conversion but the Puma bits allow a much bigger pad than any of those.
Pictured here inside a 5.5x14" fake minilite, the wheels i'm using on the Dolomega.

On the front i went puma calipers same as Steve,with citroen picasso disc
on the rear rover 600 disc rover 45 calipers, like to keep it all in house mounting brackets were my own,think i may still have the wooden template

I admit rear discs LOOK the part, but i'm not really that bothered personally, if it ain't broke......
I think both you and Dave will be forced to some sort of LSV or pressure control for your new rear discs, to maintain a front/rear balance that is acceptable, or do you plan on bias control?

I fitted a bias control in the engine bay,as it was easest place to mount

Why do you need the space ? It goes between the vertical link and the lower ball joint ?

The stub axle from the Stag sticks out the back of the yoke, a bit more because the stag has a separate steering arm,where the Dolomites steering arm, is built in to the yoke. the spacer was there to take up the difference
The steering are on a Stag is a single item and bolts to the upright.
Steering arm on a Dolomite is part of bottom ball joint which also bolts to the upright.
Stag stub axle pin from memory is longer and fatter than the Dolomite.
There was a write up and photos on the Triumph Owners website,
But it appears the photos are no longer there since it changed servers.
I’m considering going discs on the rear but once it’s up and running.
Already got so many new ideas but must concentrate on priorities first.
