For everything to do with Dolomites, Toledos, FWD cars and Dolomite-based kitcars.

Sprint propshaft length?

#1 Post by GrahamFountain »

Does length of the prop shaft on the Sprint differ with and without overdrive, like on the small chassis cars? And what length is the overdrive one, 50"?

Graham
The 16v Slant 4 engine is more fun than the 3.5 V8, because you mostly drive it on the upslope of the torque curve.

Factory 1977 TR7 Sprint FHC VVC 697S (Now all of, but still needs putting together)
B&Y 73 Dolomite Sprint UVB 274M (kids!)
1970 Maroon 13/60 Herald Convertable (wife's fun car).

Manual non-O/D and O/D Sprint props are the same length. Only the Automatic one is different (an inch or two shorter) 50" is right for a manual car IIRC.

Isn't the auto prop longer; the auto' 'box being slightly shorter than the manual and no adaptor plate being used?

...but yes, 50" is the manual length.

Thanks for confirming the length.

Just for the record the Sprint Automatic propshaft is just over 55inches (1.40m). Geoff
