Pistons

#1 Post by xvivalve »

I finally found the set of new Sprint pistons I had secreted away last evening. They are Mahle. If the piston in the quicksprint is damaged then I would propose to replace the lot...any substantiated opinions on the use of these for that purpose?

Seems generally accepted that they are 'desirable'. I have a set ready for that 'new' engine one day ....

I have a block with Mahle pistons in ready for my Track Sprint when the current engine decides to give up the ghost.

I would not hestiate in using the Mahle pistons in a race type motor. Over the years we have used Mahle and Hepolite (and forged pistons when we had some money to burn). I believe that the Mahle pisons are of good quality and strength for a cast piston and are lighter than Hepolite, go for it.

The block had been sat around for about 5-6 years & wasn't covered so lots of debris got into the cylinders. I will strip & rebuild it before I use it.
