Looks like that's what's happened.

I haven't had any one offering any +0.020" pistons (see wanted forum) so I pulled out one of my spare Sprint blocks. I got this block free a few years ago from a guy in Crewkerne, I think it was. The guy had bought it to put in his Spit but never got round to it & was now moving to Scotland but didn't want to take the engine with him.

So I honed the bores out and checked them for for size & scoring, they were fine, so I then had to clean the block up before putting the crank & pistons in. At least I got to use the new Deves rings, as the bores are standard fit (sorry Derek). Then finished this evening by painting the block. I can't do much more to the block now until I pick the head up from David at Stoneleigh.

Mart, I have a set of s/h +20s that I didn't use on QS as I fitted new liners and went back to standard as I had new mahle standards on the shelf. Hopefully will pick them up later this week...along with the car (that had its valve springs flipped on Saturday!)

Some progress...I went to see PFJ after work today as the roof has been renewed. Really pleased with the result. :D

Look, no roof...

Big question though: will the doors still fit?

I got the man who replaced my roof to do it with the doors fitted and closed, and the body propped, after I saw how much the car sagged when we took the roof of Adam's 1300...

Spent the weekend stripping & painting the the rest of the front suspension, front hubs & brake calipers. I've got new hub bearings to put in but need to get some caliper seal kits. Should be ready to start putting back together next weekend.

Mary has been busy refurbing the headlining that we got from tonybsa.

A quick scrub...

then a coat or two of fabric paint...

The thing is, the yellow staining that you see on the headlining on a lot of our cars is due to glue on the back which has soaked through over the years, so no amount of scrubbing can get rid of it, hence why we paint it.

I've been rebuilding the front hubs using new bearings of course and I've refurbed the brake calipers using new caliper seal kits. Also started on the expansion tank.

Took the servo (brake booster) back to bare metal & gave that a respray. Not a very good pic.

Mary uses 'Dylon' fabric paint, bought from Dunelm. You need about 5-6 pots to give two coats as the pots are only 25ml.

Once dry you then have to iron it (we ironed this one but not the one in BFR), although it still looks fine unironed.
