Guess who went to Aldi this morning?

Thanks for the heads-up Lewis. :D I bought the ratchet attachment as well...brilliant!

I've nearly finished putting the front suspension back on the subframe. Forgot to order the steering rack bushes when I got the rest of them.

I put the ends in first, then struggled with the front mounts...for ages!

Can be quite a test of patience.

I take it that you have the ARB on the subframe?
The car should be supported on the subframe, thereby allowing the suspension to hang free. It should be possible to get the tie bar levered low enough to allow the ARB end to line up. With it started, you can stick a stand below the bottom of the tiebar/track control arm and then lever the ARB downwards.

The last time I fitted bushes, I actually fitted the ends into the tiebars first and then attached the ARB to the subframe.
I used Superflex bushes and found it necessary to fit the clamps over the bushes, leave overnight and only then attempt to fit to the car. Some Superflex grease on the ARB helps a lot. This job is quite a scutter  .

Good luck,

Cannot believe how quickly you get through the jobs!

I couldn't dream of working that fast, and I go the powdercoating route!

Great work Mart. Like you said, looks like we were both doing similar work these last few days.

I put the new steering rack mounts in first thing this morning, so that's the front suspension & steering subframe assembly ready to go back in. I spent the rest of the day cleaning, polishing & painting bits & pieces for the engine bay. Here's a few of them:-

Yes, someone mentioned that, would've been good to meet up. I was hanging around the club stand for quite a while.

Picked up a rebuilt head from David (Sprint36) at Stoneleigh on Sunday. No need for all that valve lapping as he's already done it. :D

Make sure the rotor arm is pointing towards the small lug on the dizzy...

...also making sure the bolt holes are near the centre of the slot so that you have maximum Advance/Retard adjustment.

:jump4joy: Went to see PFJ this evening. All welding has just about been completed, just a few unwanted bolt/screw holes to be filled. I can see it all coming together now, should be in primer by this time next week. :clapping:
