hi all,
rebuilding sprint f3 engine, all going well have most of it together now, it has a std lucas distributer with a electronic igntion in the dizzy, trouble is i dont have the ignition pack and not really sure what make it is, it's the same mechansim as a lumenition with the ring with the four magnets around the shaft etc. the 3 pin lead coming out of it has a plastic cover with two pins circular and one square.
also it came with a "one piece" exhaust gasket, rimmers say they never did one, any suggestions.

Re: sprint engine
Hello, Lucas opus. Some late tr7, mgb, spitfire had these. Also std on every jaguar v12. You can use these controlboxes.
Crane electronic ignitions have also a new modern controlbox that can be used with the opus system in the dizzy's.

Re: sprint engine
a triumph novice mistake, didnt realise the sprint has a unique lucas distributer (44d4) and that an aldon ignitor wont fit, the module in it has lucas stamped on the back, any1 know what specific amplifer is needed. three pin and at the end 1 has a plastic covering and the other to are open.
has anyone fitted a lumentition magnetronic with no trouble?.

Hello schuey 57,
I fitted a magnetronic system only a week or so ago with absolutely no problem at all. Simply remove points and condenser, fit adaptor plate (supplied in kit) attach module to plate, push magnetic spinner onto dizzy shaft and replace rotor arm. (that was removed along with points etc) feed two wires out through dizzy, black one to -ve on the coil and red one to 12v supply (switched) on fuse box. The red cable might need to be extended. Replace dizzy cap and fire up. You might want to check ignition timing to make sure it's firing at the correct time, but it should be ok.
Regards
Jason.
