1850 and sprint head issues

#1 Post by dololo »

Hello , after moderator suggest , i try to sum up my issues :
i am a Lucky guy who have two dolomites with head problems

the 1850 had a broken head gasket , but the head was already overskimmed . So i :
-put an other one with small modifications ( water holes oversized to match with block )
- improvement of the radiator , with three lines in
- new bottle cap with pressure test .The setting was not ok on the new cap , i had to modifiy it to get the good pressure

Now everything looks alright , i will check the torque in a few days , after 500 kms .

the sprint looked to have the same problem , while engine retrofit
-bottle cap was faulty : pressure too low
- head off , Nothing broken on the gasket
So we decided to do a pressure check to the head , and we found a leak in an inlet port

we will do a pressure check to an other head i possess , as soon as possible , and put an improved radiator .

Hello,

Would these figures also count for the TR7 heads?

Regards,
Luke.

Over the years this has been a common problem and
in a great many cases it is the neck of the bottle that is the cause, rather than the cap.
