I'm finally trying to get the steering column nacelle fitted to my car. I can't really get it fitting satisfactorily. It seems that the steering wheel is slightly too low vertically, and thus rubbing on the nacelle - there is basically no gap between the wheel and nacelle.
Does anyone know what influences the steering wheel position vertically and how this can be adjusted or fixed?
I loosened the clamp on the intermediate shaft in the engine bay and tried to lift the wheel when inside the car, but it did not seem to want to budge.
From the ROM it sounds like the upper column can be withdrawn, I am wondering if the vertical position can be adjusted by loosening the so called "safety clamp"?
Worth noting it's a non-adjustable column, unlike you people with your fancy Dolomites.
Many thanks
