write off...
Was about 4-5 years ago but, I think they were talking about £450 write off, and £350 for cheque in lieu. Toledo had overdrive, and was 3rd party with Liverpool Victoria. The car was actually hit in a pub carpark while we were sat in it. Car was smart, but bottom of doors were rusting. The fact it ...

accident
When the toledo was hit a few years ago we had a bit of a fight with Direct line - they were hopeless but never responded to my rewording of their advert... so much for being "hit by a direct line driver it will all be sorted".. ONLY IF YOU DO EVERYTHING YOURSELF!
fittings?
Forgot the fitting bit.... Assuming you have jubilee clipped pipes you just need to cut them and put the stat in between the take of plate and the oil cooler. (4 extra jubilee clips)
Oil stat
Mike,
I havent managed to fit an oil cooler yet, but we do have one ready to go on a sprint one day. Have never been 100% of their advantage if you are not thrashing the car on a track.
stiff steering
Stiff, loose, stiff, loose... Always seems to be the universal joint. The flexi joint beneath it just gives you about 3" free rotation at the steering wheel, and none at the wheels. Have only ever found the rack to be at fault once.
insurance for modded cars
Speak to liverpool victoria. I did the same to my 1850, and brother has toledo sprint. Their price is then based on toledo rating plus £50 or so for the mods. A straight sprint was always dearer than a lesser model upgraded to the same spec. Add a named driver your age or above makes it cheaper too ...

He has been asking £500, but had no luck.. not even 1 call, but that was only in the local free ads. (where most of my cars come from!) I am tempted myself, but have way too many, If it were tax free it would be here already though!!!
timing
One thing that I found recently with the 1850 was the front crank pulley damper sheared. When I did the head gasket I couldnt work out why with the timing marks aligned all 4 pistons were in the middle!! I just move the crank round further so 1 and 4 were at the top and put the head back on ...
