Its still a tight fit having now attempted to relocate it, so for now I wont fix it permanently, but if I notice any running changes, that will be my first port of call..

Could someone confirm for me please whether the small piece of metal that sits in the rocker cover (the breather, so the one that has a rubber pipe connected to the carbs pipework) is a push fit into the rocker or whether it should be fixed in some manner.

Is anyone able to offer a suitable alternative gearbox gaiter that would fit or could be used to replace one on an early Sprint please?

Have seen/read other threads that suggest that a Stag one might do the job but was wandering if anyone had any other potential ...

Thanks very much for the reply and that all made sense.......Until I spoke with a friend about it and he posed the fact that he understood that the early Sprint's was based on the early 1850's and on those cars the centre bearing was below the support bracket not above... He pointed me to ...

I believe it to be electrical rather than oil level as the level was topped up a little while ago but i will check that as well, so thanks for that advice Sean...

Just a quick note to thank you both for your help/information on my issue....

I purchased a hose-tail and fitted it recently, leaving it for a few days to check on seepage from the master cylinder... Had a very very small amount so had to tighten a tad further, but now all seems well ...
