Those Hopkirk mirrors look good, especially when located on the door. I replaced my singular wing mirror with a pair of bullet mirrors but made the mistake of putting them on the doors a bit further forward than you have them and they have exactly two problems:
1. The mirror body is long enough ...

Re: Fitting an AFR Gauge
As for position, the topside of that bend would be ideal cos it’s easy to access from the top
There are two downpipes, the lower one is barely visible in the photo. Won't the reading be more accurate if the sensor is positioned after the downpipes merge?
Oh, yes, I forgot the sprint had two ...

Re: Fitting an AFR Gauge
For mounting the AFR sensor, I’m afraid you’ll have to take the downpipe off. You ideally want it placed less than a foot of the collector for the manifold, the closer to the manifold, the better. I am assuming your using the stock exhaust manifold, that means somewhere in the down pipe.
As ...

Re: ‘74 Blue Dolomite in Cumbria
Hi Pete
It did, eventually. Had to go a few times for emissions but got it passed on the 5/6th go.
Hope to catch up with you as well, hopefully I’ll make it to a few car shows next year once I’ve sorted out some of the cars small issues.

Re: Downloadable templates for repair panels
This is a great idea! I did think about maybe making some digital versions for panels that could be used to make some fairly crude repair sections (not many people have a several hundred tonne press for making complex curves) but some of the simpler ones would probably nice.

Re: Jag V6 swapped Dolomite
I’m using a Ford Escort “English” axle with the RetroFord upgrade kit with LSD and Uprated halfshaft to take the power. The lowest ratio RetroFord sell is 3.3 which is what I’ll be swapping to

Re: Jag V6 swapped Dolomite
Cheers Steve, but think I’ll go with the BMW box as they’re fairly plentiful, reasonably cheap, and strong enough to handle the engine and then some.
And I’ll probably stick with the axle I’ve got but with that 3.3 ratio to save on getting a new lsd and arch flares

Re: Jag V6 swapped Dolomite
Some other things I’ve found out now the car off the road and I’ve had time to look things over and think things through:
• The bad handling I was having?
- One of the rear anti roll bar bolts had fallen out so lord knows what that was doing.
• the concerning-ly low ride height?
- rear struts ...

Re: Oil Pressure Problems
Just had a quick chat today.
They say max 50psi hot at any revs.
Anything more than that they start leaking oil.
Ok, thanks, I’ll keep an eye out for that.
Well it appears to have found what was the low oil pressure problem.
I suppose if you work it out like a thermostat in a cooling ...

Re: Jag V6 swapped Dolomite
TR8 diff is 3.08 but won't fit in Sprint axle case (no idea why, just what I was told) The TR axle case is possible to adapt into a Dolly mounting wise but is 2"+ wider so stretching the arches will be called for. I'm considering this for the Carledo's next incarnation with Golf GTi MKI steel rear ...

Re: Jag V6 swapped Dolomite
On my car ive used the original fuel tank as you have, but i fitted a 4 inch pipe in the tank and the pump goes inside the pipe to act like a swill pot, as you have had petrol in your tank dont try and weld the pipe in now you would have to bolt it in place now
your front suspension have you ...

Re: Oil Pressure Problems
If you used a filter with an anti-drain valve that would definately cause the issues you describe.
Years ago I built a sprint powered spitfire. That was a great car, the lady wife drove it until she was too pregnant to get behind the. We then sold it, and some time later the chap had some work ...

Re: Oil Pressure Problems
I ran your woes past a pal who works for a Jaguar parts specialist. His opinion is at warm idle oil pressure should be in the 25-35 range and it doesn't take much reduction from that to run the bearings. A good quality 5-30 semi-synthetic is all he'd use himself excepting for Mobil 1 0140; a ...
