I'm a fool.

A friend of mine came to look at my 1850 and in showing him the electric aerial I left the ignition on over night. When I came into the garage the next day there was a very strong smell of petrol and the electric pump was ticking away. When I took the air cleaner off it was half full of petrol.I don ...

Re: temperature gauge not working

Fitted the new sender today still not working, so as Richard suggested I crimped the lucar connector and now it works , so probably didn't need a new one so I have now a spare , thanks for your help. Alan

I don't know what video you are referring to. As I don't remember making a video.

Thanks for turning the pics. The problem is knowing how much I can sell it for as it stands me a fair bit.

Richard the old one wrote: Wed Aug 17, 2022 9:11 pm It might just be that you have developed a bad connection at the sender so I would check that first by giving both bits a good clean.
Yes thanks for that I did spray some WD on the connection first but to no avail Alan

How Much is My 1850 worth.

I bought my 1850 auto 2years ago from a deceased estate. This car has a very low mileage 23k proved by M.O.T.history as all paperwork was lost by his son's who were selling it via a mechanic who got it ready for sale.
The car is in fantastic unrestored condition. No rust but slight damage on bottom ...

temperature gauge not working

Went out today in my 1850 auto after a three month lay up. All good except the temperature gauge is now not working. Reading on here various cures for this but they all seem to relate to wrong readings. My problem is it's not working at all so I don't know what to check first.Any help appreciated.Alan

Re: fuel gushing out of carb

13,000 rpm  Let's divide that by 10.

The thought that springs to my mind is that one or both of the throttle butterflies is being held very slightly open. It doesn't take much to really make the engine race. Slacken the link between the carbs and see if the idle settles down.

Yes that was ...

Re: fuel gushing out of carb

Last time I went out in my 1850 auto a couple of weeks ago.One of the carbs was flooding so I ordered a overhaul kit from Burlin. I have now overhauled the two carbs, fitting a new needle valve etc.when turning on the ignition the electric pump starts to fill the carbs and fuel escapes out of ...

Re: fuel gushing out of carb

I have ordered a pressure regulator just to be safe, I'll look up the name of the pump and then I can see what pressure it should be putting out.
Thanks for your suggestions I will come back to you next week when the pressure regulator comes .Alan

Re: Practical Classics Classic Car & Restoration Show with discovery+

I was very disappointed with the show this year. There was one hall for club stands, there was also a hall and a half for traders selling auto jumble and new tools etc.The second hall and a half also had a classic car auction going on and they charged £10 to go and view. There was also dealers ...
