The only thing worth pointing out that's not been mentioned above is that since the engine is tipped up by about 10 degrees with a sprint subframe/engine mounts the carbs won't be level, it's probably not enough to upset the float levels too much but worth considering.
It's got less to do with the ...

Re: Hmm….
they don't need to be high tensile, the originals were stock low grade stuff, the seat frame will tear before the bolts snap. high tensile is what you need for extremely high load situations such as big end bearings, suspension etc.

Re: Sprint front brake pads
I use Mintex MGB535 pads on my dolomite, these are available via on-line auction, and other sites for £13.00 to £14.00.
Other Mintex pads are available that have the MGB535 prefix, but have an addition suffix such as MGB535 M1166, MGB535 M1155 & MGB535 M1144 which are much dearer at £50.00 to £88 ...

Re: Heater pipe work
No, the heater is in parallel to the radiator (it's doing precisely the same job just putting the heat somewhere useful) cold (relatively) water goes into the block, round the cylinders and up into the head. The hot water comes out the front of the head to the stat then depending on the temperature ...

Re: Boring an 1850 to sprint bore ok?
They should, I think, all be the same regardless of application. If you have an early block in bits you really want to open out the water pump outlet to not "stupidly tiny" regardless of capacity or number of valves. Later ones are merely "small" and a bit less critical. Someone (Jeroen?) has posted ...

Re: Dolomite CVT Gearbox?
A CVT will generally be more economical at any constant speed since it just pulls the gear ratio up and the engine speed down to get best economy when you lift off the throttle a bit.
Unless the lowest possible ratio on the Perbury was taller than the 1st gear in the normal box it'd be faster too.

Re: Sprint which clutch?
I was going to go with a wide ratio od box with third od in place of 4th rather than switching to type9 or lt77 though. I realise it will be heavier and less efficient, but with an uprated od it should easily go north of 60 in second and should give a lovely close set of ratios. :D

Re: Roundabout dual carriageway rules
You could take any exit from any entry. The only markings I see are Diagram 1038 "Appropriate traffic lanes for different manoeuvres" it's advisory rather than compulsory.
I would not expect any traffic in the right hand lane on the blue arrow to take the first exit, whether any in the left lane ...

On the sidelights thing, C&U specifies a maximum distance from the sides of the car but not a minimum. The maximum distance for a dolly (it's age related) is 510mm so pretty much put them wherever you like.

I think they're typically plated to 2000kg being intended for moving fairly light cars.
I am assuming though that changes to what you're allowed to tow don't apply retrospectively. I wouldn't think that they do and that the conditions are as they were when your licence was originally issued.

Re: Towing entitlement
The only thing you've not mentioned is the MAM of the trailer needs to be under the unladen weight of the van. You may well find it's over unless it's either not plated at all (in which case you work it out from the load rating of the tyres) or been deliberately plated with a lower weight so you can ...

I have no idea why that stuff seems impossible to find in the uk. It's just a yellow pigment (iron hydroxide) in grease. You could just make your own if you don't want to wait the week or so for a tube to turn up from the states.

The long number is the part number and the G is the size so if they're the same they should fit as well as the old one.
