Re: 1500 Gearbox - Non-overdrive
I have just stripped & cleaned this gearbox and it is in good condition. I'm now trying to decide whether to just put it all back together, as all the bearings etc. are good & no wear on the shafts, or to splash the cash on it & renew some of the parts. https://i.postimg.cc/svKw4QfZ/2024...

Re: Evapo-Rust
I recently watched this video on YouTube.... https://youtu.be/fVYZmeReKKY?si=I4J0E2Uqx7Akjj74 to make your own Evapo-Rust alternative. I haven't tried it yet but, at a fraction of the cost and longer lasting, I will give it a go. Recipe: Per 1 litre of water. 1: 100 grams Citric Acid. 2: 40 grams So...

It's just a push fit. If it's too loose you can use some anaerobic sealant like Loctite.

Re: Rear crankshaft seal
FFS. I measured a used crank which was probably warn. I used a vernier to check the measurement (which isn't the most accurate tool). I may have even rounded to the nearest millimetre. The crank is going to be 3 inches, as it is imperial. 3 inches is 76.2mm.

Re: Rear crankshaft seal
When I measured the seal ID, I measured the smallest diameter which is the flexible portion, hence why I said approx.. When ordering a seal you need to know the diameter of the shaft it's fitting over. As Steve alluded to, the engineers have taken the flexible bit into account so if you order a 3&qu...

Re: Rear crankshaft seal
I see.
The end of the crank is 76mm.
The seal has an OD of 95.5mm. and an ID of approx. 72mm. the width is 9.5mm..

Re: Rear crankshaft seal
These seals are readily available from the usual suspects, Robsport, Rimmers etc. or do you want to try to source one from somewhere else?

Re: Cylinder head studs
OE is definitely 7/16" UNC both ends. The UNC is needed, where it screws into the head, as it is going into Ali, which has a courser density. The other end, however, would probably be better with UNF. ...but they don't screw into the head Mart, they screw into the block! Doh! sorry, senior mom...
