Re: Sprint Concentric Slave
OK, so I did some research on UK Ebay and got dozens of results on the Omega clutch slave, so stand by for an information overload! Re: Sprint Concentric Slave
Hi Steve, Thanks for the information, should be great help for others. Should be able to source the parts that I need either via Ebay, or I also use https://spareto.com/ which has been great for Euro car parts. Still have a long way to go in my project build, this just one part of the story, so whe...

Re: Springs and Gaz dampers
My Toledo rear springs are the 1973 originals which have now done close to 100K miles and still fine. The Dolomite rear spring is the same diameter as the Toledo one and 1 size fits all models, at least from 76 onward (which surprised me, "everybody knows" Sprint rear springs are stiffer, ...

Re: Track Day Insurance
I too have done more than a few track days with the TR register, but never bothered with insurance. Despite driving the car there and back. I think it helps to know, in the back of your mind, that you have to drive it home at days end. Especially when the red mist starts to descend on your brain, it...

Re: Ziebart Treatment, a poll.
I can't say that, 50 years on, The Ziebart treatment has kept the cars spotless. Truthfully, I wouldn't expect it to. But, of all the treatments available at the time, it seems to have had the best success rate and even now, Ziebarted cars are in generally better nick than untreated ones. What I do ...

Re: Sprint Concentric Slave
Hi Dave, Would you know know the part number of the Vauxhall concentric slave that is used for the conversion? We don't have Omega's in Australia, (could be the same or similar to our Holden Vectra), but in the aim of keeping this post a source of information for others, the part number would help....

Ziebart Treatment, a poll.
I haven't owned enough Dolomites for a statistical universe, but 6 out of 8 that i've owned have been Ziebart treated which seems too many to be a coincidence! (this is not counting 3 rotted out examples I bought as spares donors which weren't Ziebarted) So I thought i'd conduct a poll here and see ...

Re: Dolomite Sprint Found!
When that car was new, I was working for Stewart and Ardern! Alas, the North Harrow branch, rather than Hayes. But I have a vague memory of the salesman, Don Hibbert. Interestingly, I have the Ziebart invoice for the Carledo and in January of 73, it was only £33! Or maybe the considerable differenc...

Re: Springs and Gaz dampers
I run the Carledo with standard Sprint front springs, but that has a 2.0 litre Vauxhall engine. Apples and oranges, the 2.0 has an ally head, the weight probably isn't much, if any, more than the iron head 1300, it's certainly a lot less than a Sprint motor (almost 40KG lighter, engine and box toget...

Re: Sprint Concentric Slave
(I appreciate Steve (Carledo) that this does not apply to you because you are a Hooligan, I'm pleased to say! ;) ) YEP! I'm a Hooligan! At 70, i've realized I don't have time to waste dawdling around! So I still drive 'em like I stole 'em! For what it's worth, the Carledo has a concentric slave cyl...

Re: Rocker Cover Breather Outlet - 74 Sprint
Yes, it's just a push fit, but originally it was an interference push fit, so tight it shouldn't come out, even under considerable persuasion. When I encounter one that you can push in with one finger and pulls out with the hose, I glue them back in with Araldite or similar epoxy adhesive. The reaso...

Re: Dolly 1300cc clutch
If the bleed screw was on the bottom, the job would go from difficult to impossible, since air in a fluid rises naturally, you'd never get all the air out! A Sprint slave also bleeds from the top, but the cylinder itself is angled downwards at the back, trapping air in the upper forward portion of t...

Re: Rear crankshaft seal
I did wonder why all the fuss over 0.2mm! That's like 8 THOUSANDTHS of an inch! With the production tolerances the Sprint engine was built to, that's phenomenal accuracy!
