The original Triumph ones weigh a fair bit!! more than I was expecting when I took them off, Maybe around 5kg but someone else will probably have better info.

Estimated for the one above was around 1kg

But go ahead and prove me wrong if you think you're good enough!

Come on Steve, that's not like you to be arrogant! I'm sure you didn't mean it that way. :D

Didn't mean to come off as arrogant! I'd kinda like to see it done, just as intelectual engineering interest!

Re: Sprint turbo

I think it may be a case of cam profiles, I was once told that you need a mild cam for a turbo engine not high lift, Valve overlap etc and blowing through etc.

Malcolm (not sure what I'm talking about before coffee)

Id suggest the lack of ability to change profile between intake and exhaust ...

Re: Getting my sprint block bored. Does anyone have a deck plate?

The size should be determined by the piston manufacturer. AE and I believe Mahle have the bore size on the piston box for that particular piston but all manufacturers will have their own tolerance as not every piston is made of the same material.

Re: Getting my sprint block bored. Does anyone have a deck plate?

99,99% does without and it goes fine. When you have some time left you could torque only a head on the engineblock and measure the bores from the cranckshaft side and see the cylinders are marginally oval now. Nothing to worry.

Do you have any thoughts on piston to bore clearance. Book ...

Re: My alternative to the clone TKC1044 Sprint gearbox mount.

Has anyone used a BJS mount? Is it as good as a volvo one in actual service.

I need to replace the mount, and id prefer to keep it as original, but whilst the BJS one is no dobt better than the "other" one, is it as good as the Febi volvo one?

But either way, count me as second on the list.

Re: Getting my sprint block bored. Does anyone have a deck plate?

I guess you have to send your engineblock to NL then. First a skim of the deck with the engine clamped in the main bearing bore to have the deck flush with the cranckshaft bore and then a bore with the deck plate. Our deckplate is as large and alloy as a cylinderhead and torqued the same way so ...

According to my parts catalogue, only LHD cars were fitted with different springs left and right.

Is this incorrect?
RHD straight out of the UK..

I'll take a pic of the parts book tommorow. RHD same both sides. Sure of it.

No, these are genuine unused triumph springs.

I'll have a measure up. They are at work, so it will be early next week.

Re: Power assisted rack - anyone done this?

There was talk back in the day, of it being possible to fit a LHD Montego (NOT Maestro as some have said, NO Maestros had PAS from new) PAS rack upside down (or back to front, or both) in a Dolomite and it would work (Sprint, I think) I've never even seen a LHD Montego, let alone a Dolomite using ...
