yes i am employing Alan, a mate of mine from where i used to work. since i don't have a job at the moment he asked me if i wanted to help him with doing the work

suits me fine as it gets me out of the house and i get to know exactly how everything is done whilst also hurrying the work along because i do some of the work!

I'm warming to the P6 style jacking points too...

I agree scissor jacks can be rubbish, but its really down to the quality of the scissor jack. I have a couple of really good larger ones that dont end up so wobbly when the car is lifted.

You can probably find some P6 bungs on ebay and a P6 jack as well. Takes a damn long time to get a P6 with a wheel off the ground though cos the suspension travel is enormous.
With matt black cills you will hardly notice. Its a shame they didn't make them like that.

although i don't know what the I/D of the P6 tube is, i have asked the question on ebay.

i don't know what colour to paint the sills, i was thinking body colour and then paint the sill stands black!

cut it out

new bit

Image

welding in

Image

fully welded in

Image

then we did some more investigation...

Image

i would be worried if we were removing the wing or completely severing the A post :).

but since we're not there is enough strength in the bulkhead section that it isnt going to move anywhere!

Mainly becuase I think they are an improvement on the original design of jacking point.

Actually a lot of an Ajax dolomite structure is ripe for imprpvement. The whole headlamp panel eyebrow and inner panel is an oevrcomplex abortion and was done far better on other Triumphs like the Stag and Innsbruck , which have a similar 4 headlight look but far less complexity.

I sometimes reckon a dolomite bodyshell cost more than a Stag one to make......

The general size of panels on a stag are alot bigger, meaning less joins! Also there are only 2 doors......

Ill have a chat with my dad to see if there is any way we can improve the headlight support on my shell. I've already bought GRP eyebrows as this is a notorious rusting spot!
