Had about the same problem after fitting a 70 liter lpg tank next to the petrol tank but solved that with a steel wheel and a civic 13 inch spare tyre.

Whilst that is a very nifty solution it is not one I could use, Jeroen.

Firstly, I don't like the space saver spare wheel concept....what are you supposed to do with your luggage or wheel after fitting the space saver?

Furthermore, I didn't think a Honda Civic wheel could fit because the PCD is way too big?
Searching on google confirmed that I was almost right, Hondas used a 100mm 4 stud before going for the bigger PCD I knew of (and then 5 stud).

Dolomites have a 95.25mm PCD.
With its 100mm PCD a Honda wheel will fit onto this Dolomite PCD but there is no way I would ever contemplate using such on the road, even at low speeds.


It very unusual that I disagree with you Jeroen, but this is one such occurrence.

The tyre is civic. The steel wheel is a 4j spitfire one. It's an around the town car. The spare has to get me home.

That looks very neat,when i made my engine back plate,i put two holes in it one for water to go in and one for temp gauge
I was going with single throttle body

Cheers Dave, I made a cock up with the 3rd hole for the temp sender but in the wrong place lol. Its now blanked off and I'll have to rethink the sensor position. I'll post pics of the head gasket mods once Ive verified cylinder temps. I dont want to confuse others who search for such a mod without some data. In the next 2 weeks I should have an idea if i've messed up or not but I'm just running on gut feeling at the mo I'm also going single throttle with a Nissan SR 20 intake manifold and all stock (Nissan ) sensors where possible.

where is the thermostat bypass?

The brass fitting behind the stat housing hopefully ?

So when the 'stat closed the coolant will go through the brass elbow and back to the pump,
but, when the thermostat is open will the brass elbow not also be open...?

yes, the elbow will be T'd to heater inlet too then down to the bottom hose (pre pump)Heater return will pipe into water pump cover. Its a bit trial and error but I need to see how it goes before I commit to the efi manifold and ecu. At worst it'll mean a head gasket swap for a non modified one

Have you thought about where and how to fit the trigger wheel and crankshaft sensor's

Yes Dave, Ive already got a BMW crank pulley fitted with built in trigger wheel. I had a hub made to fit the crank and the pulley bolts to that. Sensor hasn't been sorted yet but its looking likely I'll make a bracket to bolt to the timing cover under the inlet and alternator. Think Ive posted a crank pulley pic before, I'll check.
