So...

...does anyone have any Stag or Spitfire stub axles kicking around that they might be able to compare with the Dolly ones? Or do I need to go out and buy one of each in hope?!!
I'll have...

..4, I think. It would make sense to replace those on the other car as well, judging by the other bits and pieces I've so far found...
Stub Axles

We may have covered this recently, but I cannot find a post on it, so here goes!

Having inspected my stub axles, they are shot, in that they have worn heavily owing to bearing 'issues'. Seeing as I'm about to fit new bearings, I thought it worthwhile to replace the stub axles at the same ...

at least...

.. you have something from your speedo! Mine isn't reading anything at all as the gearbox end seems chewed. New cable and still nothing!
Must sort that out as I'm sick of working off the revs only!
I'm not sure what pressure I got - didn't test that as I went straight to the external feed! Didn't want to risk it!
My 1500 had exactly the same problem. I have cured it by thoroughly cleaning out the oilway through the head that supplies the rocker shaft.

To do this I had the luxuary of removing the head which meant I could clean out the 3 different parts to the oilway using drill bits. The oli comes ...

balancing

Sorry to hijack, but on similar lines, how much difference does it make when reconning a propshaft, to get it balanced afterwards (assuming it goes back together in the same alignment as it started off)?
gasket

Got the gasket sorted - it hadn't blown! When I took the manifold off last I fitted new studs after filing the face down to ensure it was flush. Did the same on the downpipe. Mid section of the exhaust could best be described as 'paper'... no wonder it was getting a bit noisy!! Now I'll have to see ...

pit

Well, I'm up on ramps, don't have a pit, but the exhaust section is catching on the bodywork / engine / subframe rather than the ground! Dread to think how loud it'll be to try and drive it anywhere else!!!

Might jack and pack tomorrow if I still can't get anywhere!
Cheers,
1500HL exhaust

Not a re-deisgn thread!! I'm currently replacing the exhaust on my 1500HL as it was getting a bit (!) noisy. Managed to split the sections and remove centre and rear, but...
overflow

Sorry if I've missed anything, but is the fuel coming from the overflow on the float chambers? If so, check for grit preventing the valve shutting off supply / wear in the valve / seat. Just done mine and it makes quite a bit of difference to the old petrol smell!
quality

The quality of fuel hose is variable. The stuff I replaced just a year ago has had it - starting to split where it is bent. only problem is that I can't remember where I bought it from. it was for unleaded (as it is stamped), but I have no idea why it has stuggled to last when the older stuff is ...
