Twin calipers

This was tried years ago, good for one or two stops then horrendous brake fade. As Tinweevil says you aren't generating any extra heat but you ARE increasing the rate at which it's produced, coupled with a decreased capacity to dissipate it due to the second caliper. Bad idea unless all you're going ...

Stub axles

I looked into this a while back and you're right, there's none about at the moment. One of the Triumph specialists I've chatted to at various shows is prepared to get some more made using a new one I have as a pattern.
Sprint rear brakes

I was under the impression that it WAS TR6 anyway. Sprint rear brakes are more than adequate. Are you sure that the balance valve isn't faulty ?

Alloy carb mounts

I've had a pair of Phils' alloy carb mounts fitted for a while now, they are brilliant. I've only suffered the effects of heat soak under extreme conditions ie hot day, blatting down the motorway, then stopping in a traffic jam. After a couple of minutes of idling there's a bit of spluttering when ...

Dunlop SP Sport

After all these years mate I'd chuck it and get a decent spare tyre. Do you really want to have to run on a 25yr old fabric-cored radial if you get a puncture ? Novelty value only I reckon. I think that Vintage tyre supplies or somebody else had a batch of new SP Sports made a while ago for the ...

Had to go into work this morning after booking the week off , and now, with the rest of the week set aside to get some serious work done on the Triumphs, there ...

Tranny tunnel

Malc, your mention of the transmission tunnel reminded me that I hung on to the tunnel from a scrap car some time ago. It had a big access hole cut in the side so that you can get to the slave cylinder. Someone had taken the trouble to have a plastic cover made, quite a neat job. I wondered if there ...

Clutch master to slave pipe

Harry, sounds like you've got the original factory fitted pipe. These are prone to flexing as they get older and take up some of the pedal travel. You can use a Midget 1500 pipe which is made from hard red plastic (I have one of these on my car, works fine) or have a braided stainless one made up ...

Best Car I've ever owned

Nice to see so many people rate their Dollies like this. Count me in too. My P-reg Sprint, still the best standard Sprint I've ever driven.
