Re: Dolomite rear view mirror repairs

Funny the way these posts re-materialise every once in a while! So our repair continues to function. This is a cheap home fix option that worked for us.
By now 3-D printing the base plate is probably not beyond the realms of possibility and budget and this is indeed what the Italian Club may have ...

Re: Overdrive gear knob removal

Plastic top of knob simply prises off. Lift up carefully and disconnect overdrive wires.
Remove knob by undoing the lock nut on the bottom. Look carefully and you will see the flats.

Re: '77 1850HL Absolutely baffled by this one

I had had this exact same problem with the screws to the electronic ignition unit being slightly too long allowing arcing. All is well on tick over but anything beyond that leads to misfiring. Took screw out, shortened it, refitted and the issue has never returned. Worth a look as its a quick fix.

Re: windscreen trim

Is there still an Australian source for front screen rubbers? I can't remember the suppliers name but I got mine from them. Its been fitted for ~5 years and its showing no signs of degrading.

Re: The car's just not warming up enough

Blocked coolant return pipe? They get clogged up with muck and stop the heater working efficiently. You can replace the old one with a stainless version. http://www.rimmerbros.co.uk/Item--i-212935SS

I'm sure we have all needed these at some time or other.

Mart,
You might find this an interesting read for background information on range extenders vs ethernet / home plug options.

Re: Suspect Radiator

I'm not sure it needs to be "clearly" stated again John! We all have our opinions and experience with this. I have run various vehicles with no anti freeze temporarily and have used lower (20%) summer AF concentrations and have noticed absolutely no difference whatsoever in the coolant or oil ...

Brilliant work and cheap motoring.
I had a Renault Scenic and found that the pollen filter clogged so quickly it prevented the blower from..err...blowing.
I took it out and put up with sneezing more often.

Re: Suspect Radiator

You don't say whether the temperature behaviour has changed. if so then maybe you need some maintenance.

Our Sprint is fitted with a capillary temperature gauge.
The cooling system is standard excepting a 6 vane impeller instead of a 12 vane.
At A or B road driving speeds the temperature sits at or ...

Re: My first Dolly - 1979 1500 SE

Juddering is also a symptom of worn rear tie bar bushes...in fact check all the rear bushes first and then move forwards along the drive chain as it may also be related to engine mounts, prop carrier, gearbox mount etc.
SuperFlex from Chris Witor seems to be a good choice for bushes.
