ERR the diff housing is cast iron and the axle tube is steel, it can be brazed but I believe welding would not work. I would clean it all up and use Loctite high strength retainer to keep it in place.
However I might be wrong.

Hi Steve,
It's yellow, and the comm plate list it as paint code 64, but the actual paint looks more like 94 to me (less 'lemon', more 'butter'..).
It does have an electric steel sunroof - I wondered if that might get you a 'K' on the comm's plate?

Another 'Commissioning Number' question...
Hi Guys,
Came across a local Sprint which has a 'normal' commissioning number VA24xxx, but an unusual suffix letter at the end DLOK. (it is definitely a capital K..)
I know DLO means Manual O/Drive, but I've never seen the 'K' before - can anyone shed any light on this?

thinking of using an up graded alternator,as planned upgrades include central locking electric Windows and may be heated windscreen,would I need to upgrade the wiring to the alternator ?

Alternator on early Sprints (in workshop manual for '75 - '76 model) is listed as Lucas 17ACR, nominal output 36Amps @ 12V.

Hi Paul,
Did you happen to get any photo's of how teh bolt was welded, or a photo of the failed component?
It's always good to be able to document failures, then we can figure out good from bad - don't know that I need any welds failing at 100mph...
