I haven't been active on the forum for a long time - young family and a few other things mean I have not had the time to spend on or even drive the Dolomite. I now want to get it back up to a good standard. I have swapped out the engine and gearbox to keep it moving but want to get the originals ...

BMW moved away from the "ultimate driving machine" tagline a few years ago - they now give you "efficient dynamics" instead apparently...

Twelve-months ticket
Pleasingly my Dolomite (Blu) passed the MOT test this morning :D
Two minors - slight oil leak and perishing but not perished n/side track rod end boot, but everything else was dandy.
Blu has not been used huge amounts over the last year, with only 800 odd miles covered, but I guess that's what new ...

Rose tinted glasses?
I've been very lax with checking this forum lately, and my 1850 has been a little neglected too - having the due date for my first baby approaching rapidly has meant the focus has been on getting the house, crib, cot, etc ready, as well as having a new job to get on top of. But now being about as ...

Slow returning to idle
Good afternoon all,
Am hoping to avail myself of this very useful forum and knowledgeable members again - I may not post a lot, mainly as I am not in a position to advise anyone about anything on 'our' cars as a beginner, but I have learnt a lot by reading through many many posts and replies ...

One of our cats decided to join me walking the dogs this morning - stayed with me for the entire circuit. You really do get some funny looks as you walk along with a little black moggy trotting along beside you.

Re: MOT - CO emissions
Had another play today and as a result my 1850 is smoother and pulls along happily through the revs. It's probably not perfect but I'm definitely happy

Re: MOT - CO emissions
Morning. Pleased to say my 1850 passed the retest yesterday after an afternoon of resetting (playing with) the carbs on Sunday. I've not quite got the set-up right (my first time setting up twin SUs) and so need to spend a bit more time fettling but 3.8% CO was a good result and gets me the ...

MOT - CO emissions
Morning,
Having only managed to do 1,000 miles since last March and with the car pretty much sat in the lock-up going nowhere for a few weeks now, other than a pre-MOT blast, I had my 1850HL MoT'd at the weekend and only failed on the CO emissions, which at about 6.5% at 3,000rpm, and slightly ...

Re: K&N Filters - 1850HL
Thanks for the advice - I'll probably be having a play this weekend and fitting. To be honest, I think Blu is currently running a little rich (by the plugs) so maybe not too much adjustment will be needed. Will fit, check, adjust as necessary and see what happens.

K&N Filters - 1850HL
Hello & Merry Christmas!
A kind soul has (unexpectedly) given me a pair of K&N air filters for my SU carb'd 1850HL. This is the first time I will have fitted K&Ns to a car so I have a quick question before I do so - am Ilikely to need to purchase new needles or is a tweak of the mixture likely to ...
