Re: Sprint Chain and Tensioner - again…
I am intrigued by the comment you have made regarding the replacement of the timing chain in one which has been “pre-stretched”. Chains of the type used on the Sprint don’t in my opinion stretch as such but they do wear and in doing so become a little longer. As they do, the measurement link to link ...

Welding is an art
Barry has been very open in admitting that aside from some experience of using an ARC welder he has had no experience in other forms of welding.
Several have suggested that Barry should see if he can enrol in a class where the art of welding is demonstrated and where the participants learn how to ...

Re: Timing chain replacement
I use an Impact Bar, (Sealey VS786), similar to what is seen in the photo.
The imperial sized ½ drive socket is mounted at the bottom. Give the head of the shaft, above the hand grip a good smart whack with a decent sized hammer and it will free the bolt.

Re: Chassis number info
Terry has mistakenly quoted the wrong number here for the car which he purchased recently. The photograph I have here shows the chassis number as VA22521 DLO. It is not therefore one of the earlier manufactured Sprints.

Re: Sprint Exhaust Manifold Ceramic Coating
I have not bothered to do the manifold but I have had the downpipe coated, in an attempt to reduce the heat being radiated out into the engine bay.
One of the other reasons for coating the downpipe was that when I do any service work on either the engine, clutch or gearbox I drop the complete ...

Re: Gear box Leak
I suspect that it is those o-ring seals on the selector rods which are leaking.
Read the post https://forum.triumphdolomite.co.uk/viewtopic.php?t=31959
Find the right sized ½ inch vee seal and fit these instead of the o-rings and the problem disappears

Re: Early Toledo front drum to disc conversion
I think the advice given about overhauling the brake system is sound but I cannot accept that fitting a tandem-master is going to be a huge improvement. It is complicating a relatively simple system.
You have to ask why such systems were fitted in the first place. It had nothing to do with safety ...

Re: An Electric Dolomite Conversion
I am not interested in the views on whether or why or when to covert to electric propulsion, I am interested in how it is going to be done.
I am keen to make contact those who have carried out a conversion or are in the process of doing so.

An Electric Dolomite Conversion
I read much on this forum about those wanting to change things for what seems to me to be the sake of changing things, boosting their Dolomites and Toledos in some form, or repairing the ravages of living in a heavily polluted country where cars seem to melt away.

I have a somewhat similar issue on my car trying to start from cold and if the car has been left to sit for a few days).

I second the comment made by Alex. The person who developed that design should be shouted several beers for each time the file is downloaded. A big round of applause please for whoever it was.

Trying to live in a supposedly cashless society
Think about it, how would/will you pay for something when there is no electricity? I know you will be claiming that it “is never going to happen to us, we will never run out of electricity. We are the United Kingdom! Disasters simply do not happen here”.

Removing a Toledo engine, the easy way.
My standard practice when working on Dolomite range is to lift the body clear of the engine and sub frame assembly when it becomes necessary to work on the engine, clutch or gearbox. It is an easier task on a Toledo for the gearbox is supported on the sub frame.

Re: Toledo 1500 clutch issue
There is I believe an old saying “doesn’t time fly when you are having fun”.
Well time has certainly flown by. It is some three and a half years since I first described the problems I was having with the clutch on this car.
Yes I did manage to get the clutch to operate correctly – in a fashion but ...

Re: Could I paint my roof with aerosols and get a good finish?
I used a Glasurit 2 pack paint when painting my last car. An excellent paint choice. The agents were able to give a perfect colour match.
