Just out of interest Maidstonerob, what was the name of the breakers in Norwich where you got that door from? Was there anything left on the car that it came from? What model was it??
Thanks
Howard......from Norwich!

Re: Knocking sound
OK I'm back after much dismantling!
Right then, I have a Rolon tensioner fitted. The rubber slipper was in place and seems to be well stuck. In situ there was about 2mm gap between slipper body and main tensioner housing. When I tried pushing on the chain so as to push the slipper back into the ...

Re: Knocking sound
Ok thanks Trackerjack.
Seems I have a tensioner problem. Either rubber slipper missing or tensioner returning to start position. Time to pull it to pieces then. Never done this before and weirdly quite excited about getting the spanners out and getting stuck in. I will report back.
Cheers

Re: Knocking sound
OK Thanks Mart. Bugger!
Next Question! Why would I have slack in the chain there and how do I get rid of it? Does it sound like I have tensioner problems? I can't get my head round how the tensioner could take up the slack there as it sits the other side of the bottom sprocket??? Would it be that ...

Re: Knocking sound
Sorry for hijacking this thread but I'm getting slightly concerned about the rattle/knock coming from the top end in my Sprints engine and it seems I might have the same tensioner problem. Can I just confirm where tension in the chain should be. I removed my crankcase cover and there is 5-10mm ...

Hello Keith,
Welcome to the forum. Glad you found us!
Great picture of your Sprint back in the day! I'm sure Dave the current owner will love to see it and will probably have some more recent photos to share with you.
Cheers
Howard.

Ahh, small oversight on my behalf it seems. Funny how the position of a simple comma can throw a spanner in the works sometimes. Must read things more carefully in future!
WVF869S belongs to Davbat and not Len Hughes! Apologies to all concerned.

First Show of the year and WVF869S Sandglow Sprint
Took a ride out to Earsham Hall near Bungay in Norfolk yesterday for the Bungay Lions Classic and vintage vehicle show. Not that far from where I live and was a really good day out with some lovely cars, buses, trucks and tractors on show. In particular, a good turn out of Morris Minors and E-Type ...

Re: Tax Exempt
Just out of interest Paul6car, what is the VA number of your Sprint please. I have a May 74 registered Sprint and would be very interested to see if mine was built before or after yours. I take it the VA number denotes the order of build??

Re: Eastern Dolly Day 2012
Just a quick question about this event for those that may know. Do you just turn up and if you have a car to display, just park it on the field with the other dolomite owners or do you have to fill in an entry form to gain entry? I notice they have an entry form on their (out of date!) website ...

Thanks for the reply xvivalve.
I'm sort of happy that you had this problem and with the way you dealt with it. I had thought after I had posted my last post that I could possibly grind some off the top. It has the flat screwdriver slot in the top of my stud, so if I just lost that bit I'm sure it ...

Re: My Sprint - Pictures
Just a quick update. WDY250M passed the MOT on Monday, no advisories :D . Had one or two little issues sorted while it was being tested (MOT tester is an old school friend and likes the older cars!) like headlamp aim, couple of loose rear anti roll bar bolts  and a brake light bulb. All taxed ...

Re: My Sprint - Pictures
Beware that rust mark running along the outside of the OSF chassis mounting; redolent of the box section there rusting through from the inside!
Do not fear! That rusty looking mark is not actually rust! It's just where there was a bit of thin paint and I sprayed some waxoil over it to protect it ...
