Re: Uprated Brakes
We can supply a vented disc brake conversion that will fit under your standard Sprint wheels, and is an easy DIY installation.

Cost will be a bit more than you wanted to spend due to shipping costs to UK, but some others from UK have bought these kits and seem happy.

Jumpimg out of 3rd Gear
Mainshaft circlip, which retains the 2nd/3rd gears has either broken or worn. If there is excessive movement in these gears, the gearbox will ALWAYS jump out of 3rd gear.

Hey Dollysteve,

I like your taste in Jaguars. I have a 1996 XJR, which I use to tow my race Sprint. Fantastic tow car and a great highway cruiser. There is not much that can match it as a tow car when hill climbing, I think that the 500+nm of torque has something to do with it.
Philip uses a one piece cast 7" rim with different offset and uses group 2 flares.
Tunnel removal
On the race car we only remove the tunnel if removing the gearbox by itself, which saves unbolting subframe, steering shaft etc. If the motor and box are both coming out, subframe and tunnel are not touched, just pull the whole lot out the top.
Gearbox removal
I have just removed the gearbox from my race Sprint for the 3rd time in the last 4 days. Each time the car is jacked to max height with a large trolley jack and sat on 4 axle stands, There is just enough room to slide the gearbox bell housing under the sills, and body rails.
To the best of our knowledge there was 2 Broadspeed built Sprints brought to Australia.
Philips car was brought into Australia by Ron Hodgson Leyland, raced by and then owned by Bob Morris, then sold to Alexandra Surplice and then bought by Philip in 1981.
120+ in a Sprint
I regularly see at least 120 in my Sprint on the way to work, and the thing isn't even stressing, only 3000rpm with lots more to go,........................................but I suppose it is a little easier if your speedo is in KPH.
The cost of Motor Sport.
With our local racing season starting here in just over 2 weeks I thought that it would be interesting to do a comparison on the cost of motor sport from different parts of the world.
Harmonic Balancer Adaptor
The adaptors that we have had made, are CNC machined and come with the capscrews, cost is A$95.00.

The balancers that we have been using are secondhand items, and I am sure would be cheaper to source in the UK than Australia, as they are from a European car.
Re: Freudenburg
If you look at these items, you will see that they are a standard harmonic balancer with an adaptor to suit the crankshaft.

We (SPRINTPARTS) have already made an adaptor (which adapts the balancer to a Dolomite OHC crank).
Re: ST Vented Disc Brake Kit.
Your list is fairly close except you need 4 caliper spacers, 2 off per caliper. There are 2 types of spacers for each caliper, 1 blank and the other needs to have a hole and recess for the caliper bridge seal (to stop the caliper and spacer from leaking).
Re: Over steer
I personally don't think that my Sprints suffer from understeer at all. If you increase your front tyres pressure to a realistic figure of say 30-32 psi instead of the original ly quoted 22 or whatever it was, and make sure that the car sits level and not nose down they can be reasonable balance in ...
