This was after 10-15 mins yesterday with the mini power ball - if that. I think you'll agree the finish looks great for the limited time taken so far.

Going to have a go at the others tomorrow.

I've been watching a few YouTube videos on metal ...

Polishing Sprint Alloys

After 10 or so years of non sprint alloys on my car - I've decided to give the std wheels another go.

The set on the car were not too bad, and when I took them off, stored them in wheel bags so they haven't really deteriorated over the years. The odd bit of corrosion and very very dull.

Thought I ...

Fuse Box

Went out for drive last weekend, running great after some new Magnecor leads and a NOS Lucas distributor Cap, went to give it some welly...... and died.

Questioning my mechanical prowess, managed to free wheel onto a side street and get park safely. Would spin the started and briefly fire and die ...

Re: Headlamp relays

Jeroen (SOE8M) made my front loom for my sprint.

Relays for the light, horn and cooling fan.

Requires the main loom cutting below the battery / near the rad - a couple of connectors added and then plugged into a new harness for the lights etc.

The old one had been bodged, cut, connectors removed ...

Re: Replacement lowering shocks (& springs?)

Hi

Just to back up what Steve (Carledo) has said.

When I bought my sprint it had spam adjustables and lowered and uprated springs on the car.

The car had a nose down, bum (being polite) up stance, and the ride and handling was terrible. I had some std shocks from years ago and comparing them with ...

Classic Car Tuning - A recommendation from a ham fisted clots

Please if this breaches the rules of the forum please remove!! I have no association with AG Classic Car Tuning other than being a Happy Customer!!

if you still want to go down the electric water pump route. I recently bought a restrictor by-pass from Robsport, included new o-rings. About a fiver.

just a thought.

@B8WLY Lovely Sprint!! and nice to see the RS originally from Gods Own Country.......Newcastle upon Tyne. (or Gateshead to be more accurate)

Have always wanted a MK2 RS2000 - couldn't justify the spent now to get one in the condition I would want. Very Jealous!!

Re: Steering rack / oil pump clash

I have the the same rack mounts, engine mounts and a spin on filter conversion on mine. The solid mounts were a right sod to put on.

Your filter looks too long. I have a shorter filter (I’ll post the number when I get home). I bought the filters from RB in a 3 pack, and they are quite stumpy.

Re: Sprint Brake Discs

I experience a similar problem when I was a slip of a lad, with what I thought was poor quality brakes, and warping after replacement at a local garage.

Stripped them back and the mating surfaces of the disc and hub on one side weren't clean, had some debris and detritus on them, cleaned them up ...

Re: Alternator mounting?

I had a noisy bearing under load on my old “std” sprint alternator.

Put an a127 70A one on as recommended by the guys on here as a replacement. Seems to work fine.
(A right hang one)
Voltage and on the volt meter never drops below 13 even with fan, lights and the ICE on.

Water Pump by-pass with Weber carbs

When fitting Weber carbs and manifold, should you replace the std by-pass connecting tube with a blank, with a small diameter hole drilled in it? Similar to the ones used when fitting a electric water pump?

Thanks in advance for your replies!
