Re: Fan belt

For those playing at home...and abroad :)

I had the same issue as Dave, the local version on Halfords here (Supercheapauto) sells 11A belts (11mm wide) and the 11A0925 is way too big.

For reference, the belt that fitted my Sprint is 11A0840 so try that if you find the 0925 is too big.

Cheers

Sprint dash refurb

Hi folks,

Driving my Sprint today and the dash wood is in need of a spruce up. The varnish has cracked and is coming away from the wood so if I get it early, it should stop any further damage and make it all look 100% better.

Can someone tell me if the gauges need to come out, or can I unscrew the ...

Re: Door handle interior linkages

Sorry if my info was misleading..according to the diagrams Id say yours is spot on.
Remember though that the latching mechanism doesn't have a spring return (like other cars/moderns) it relies on you pulling to door open to reset. So when you use the screwdriver to double click the latch in, you ...

Re: Door handle interior linkages

They are a right PITA to get to and get clipped correctly (just did my passenger side last weekend).

The vertical link (connecting to the door handle) you have connected 90 degrees out. So (trying to explain in words) the elbow of the link faces the outside of the door (you have it facing the ...

Re: Sprint fuel lines.

Tip for flaring the 5/16" tube is to anneal it before attempting the bubble or double bubble flare.
Heat with a butane torch until just glowing red then I quench in a bucket of water. Also, depending on the tool you are using chamfer the outer edge and deburr the inside.
Also, use the punch grease ...

Re: Anti-roll bar ends

Cold pour would be what I'd do.
I'd be tempted to make new units up by getting some pipe and cutting some up to the correct length and before pouring, weld a new length of threaded stud in before pouring.
This is the place in Perth...surely there must be places in VIC?

Hi Pete,

I havent really needed to check them until your thread!..so I suppose thats a good thing.

Looking thought, they look fine. When the suspension is on full droop they look squish enough but sitting flat they look like a normal bush which I think was some of the comments around poly bushes ...

Re: Sprint Rocker cover breather.....

The gauze acts as a flame trap/quencher so without it in theory ignited oil/air mix could travel to your oil catch can and 'boom'

Not sure how many engine bay fires can be attributed to this but most cars have a similar gizmo so there must be some science behind it?

Re: Misfire at higher load

If the dizzy cap is cracked, then a good tip is to when dark, turn off all the lights and look at all the parts of the ignition system.

You will, if the ignition is tracking, get a blue 'aura' around where the energy is leaking and so any cracks in the cap will show up.

This also works for ...

Re: rear axle inner seal - substitute with #141756 gearbox seal - SOURCE?

Mark,

If you have the old one go to Transeals in Welshpool with it. They explained to me that if it's just the area where the lip runs is damaged they can source a different manufacturer as some put the lip in slightly different locations so you can offset where the seal has worn eith the new one ...

Re: New vibration after recent work

For all of Rimmers failings with poor stuff, I`ll give them the benefit of the doubt (as you mentioned, they sell the Falcon brand) and say that it shouldn't need that amount of modification.

Those front subframe bushes look wrong (although I have not been under mine recently). It may be the amount ...

Re: Another aussie dolly

Hi Steve,

Looks like you have your hands full, but it should come up well if you get the bits fixed up.
Was that the one advertised on Gumtree by the way?

The sun in Aus pretty much fries most plastics, leather and wood to a crisp unless its looked after but you may be able to (as you say) flat ...
